Today, P5 went on a trip to the Skainos Centre, to take part in a story writing workshop through Fighting Words NI. The children worked together to write chapter one of an exciting story about a magic pencil. They were then given some time to continue the story independently. The focus was on promoting children’s love of writing and it was wonderful to listen to the creative ideas the children had. They are an imaginative bunch! There was even an illustrator there drawing the children’s ideas as they shared them. Their stories were printed out, with every child becoming a published author, as they are getting to take their own story home.
The children’s behaviour was wonderful and it was a pleasure to be out for the morning with them.
