Primary 5/6
Hello and welcome to our P5/6 class blog!
This year promises to be packed full of exciting learning, creativity, and discovery. Our class is taught by Mrs. Barkley, with the fantastic support of Miss Murphy, and Miss Downey. Together, we are here to guide and support every pupil as they grow in confidence, develop new skills, and enjoy the journey of learning.
? What We’re Learning
Throughout the year, we’ll be exploring three amazing topics:
- Active Planet – From earthquakes to erupting volcanoes, we’ll investigate how our dynamic Earth works. Expect exploding science experiments, creative art inspired by natural disasters, and research into how people live in different parts of our planet.
- Mapping Our World – We’ll become geographers as we learn about countries, continents, and how to use maps and atlases. We’ll even create some of our own maps using both traditional and digital tools!
- Famous People and Their Inventions – From inventors like Alexander Graham Bell to modern-day changemakers, we’ll discover how great ideas have shaped the world we live in today. This topic will be full of opportunities for innovation and creativity.
?? What to Expect
Our class is a place where curiosity is celebrated and everyone is encouraged to try their best. Alongside our topics, we’ll be diving deep into literacy and numeracy, exploring ICT through creative projects, and working together in teams to build our social skills and resilience. We’ll also be sharing lots of our work here on the blog — so keep an eye out for photos, pupil voice, artwork, and class updates!
Here’s to a fantastic year ahead in Primary 5/6!
With excitement,
Mrs. Barkley, Miss Murphy & Miss Downey
