Hands On History - P5 at the Ulster Museum

20th May 2026
Our Primary Five pupils enjoyed a truly fabulous and enriching trip to the Ulster Museum! During their Discover History session, the children explored how homes have evolved from the past to the present, learning about how people lived and adapted over time. In the interactive Discover History Zone, pupils had great fun dressing up, playing with traditional toys and examining fascinating artefacts from long ago. The excitement continued in the Ancient Egypt exhibition, where the children came face-to-face with Takabuti, a real Egyptian mummy! They also took part in an engaging educational workshop, where they handled artefacts, deepened their knowledge of Ancient Egypt and explored the different jobs people had during that time—even trying out some of these skills themselves. To round off the day, we visited the beautiful Botanic Gardens, climbed a few trees and, of course, made a quick stop at the gift shop. The museum staff were incredibly impressed with the children’s excellent behaviour and enthusiasm.
Staff commented, "Arguably one of the best classes for observations and responses. Picking up on things other schools havent before!" What a brilliant and memorable day for all!
