This term, Primary 5 have been focusing on persuasive writing. After exploring the techniques used in successful advertising, the children worked in groups to write, create and perform their own advertisements to the class, selling frobscottle or snozzcumbers from our class novel The BFG.
The children demonstrated fantastic creativity, using catchy slogans, alliteration and rhetorical questions to hook their audience. They also incorporated humour, bossy verbs, and powerful, persuasive adjectives to make their products as appealing as possible.
To bring their ideas to life, the children made their own props, dressed up for their roles and even included musical accompaniments in their performances.
At the end, the class voted for the most persuasive advertisements, with the winning team receiving a chocolate treat. A fun and memorable way to end the term!
